"I recently did a sermon on Dr. King where I had a bit of a struggle putting him into a broader context than most people think of him. Most people stop at “I have a dream” and pat themselves on the back when they see President Obama and an interracial couple like my wife and I. That may be an exaggeration, but the point still remains. Personally I see Dr. King in the light of any religious figure. We like to see our prophets as being “way back then” so that we can look at the context and see ourselves as making so much progress. But the truth is eternal. If you listen to this speech, it could have just as easily been given today."
